Po približno 4 urah vzpenjanja po snegu sem zaslutil, da sem sredi nečesa najlepšega zadnjih nekaj mesecev. Sonce ni nehalo sijati, pihal je rahel veter, pred menoj se je kazal precejšen križ na vrhu gore. Morda mi uspe doseči vrh Alpenspitza, ki, četudi v neposredni bližini najviše nemške gore Zugspitze, ni izgubil ponosnega videza in slutnje pomembnosti.
Sezona turnega smučanja sicer niti približno ni pri koncu. Z drugimi besedami: do zaresnega poletja si nadejam še nekaj vzponov in predvsem vijuganja po pomladnem snegu. Kljub vsemu je tale tura moja letošnja najljubša. Vidikov, ki naredijo turo ali smuko odlično, je precej in so do neke mere odvisni od posameznikovega okusa. Letošnja zmagovalna kombinacija se ponaša z zadostnimi višinskimi metri, na trenutke rahlim vetrom v popolnoma sončnem vremenu, snežno odejo povsod naokrog in seveda zelo majhnim številom ljudi na poti. Izmed pomembnejših vidikov je seveda zavzetje vrha, ki je v tem primeru izostal. Nič ne de. So mesta, kjer se ne počutim varno in gotovo, kakor v tem primeru. Sklepni del gore je potrebno opraviti s smučmi na ramah in s cepinom v roki, sledeč gazi po grebenu. Tega si nisem upal, razen tega sem imel za sabo precejšnjo količino vzpona. Točno tam sem se obrnil in si rekel: to je bil moj najljubši letošnji vzpon! Dodal sem mu ravno toliko vijuganja po mehkem pomladanskem putrčku.

My favorite tour: Alpenspitz
After some 4 hours of ascent on the snow, I started to realize I was in the middle of on the best things of the past months. The sun wouldn’t stop shining, there was a gentle breeze, I could see quite a big cross on the top of the mountain. I even might reach the peak of Alpenspitz which – though just next to Germany’s tallest Zugspitze – haven’t lost this proud look and some kind of importance.
The backcountry skiing season is by any means finished. In other words: before the real summer starts, I am planning to do some more ascents and of course some winding on soft spring snow. Anyway, this tour is this season’s favorite. There are quite some elements which make a tour excellent, and they might, of course, depend on one’s taste. This year’s winner boasts a fair amount of ascent, a sweet and cool breeze in perfect sunny weather, snow covering the surroundings and certainly a minimal amount of people on the way. Quite an essential element, though, is the question of reaching the peak … which in this case didn’t happen. Never mind. There are spots where I don’t feel safe or sure, just as in this case. To reach the peak of Alpenspitz, one must take off the skies and hold the ice ax, following the footsteps along the ridge. I didn’t dare it, besides I have made quite an ascent. I simply turned around and said to myself: this is my favorite tour! The only thing left was precisely the same skiing descent on soft firn layers.
